BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College graduates Riley Felton (Salineville, Ohio/Southern Local) and Qujuan McGlothin (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) were selected as two of 200 student-athletes to participate in the 2024 Career in Sports Forum at the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis from June 1-4.

The Career in Sports Forum is an annual educational program that brings together selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics. The unique three-day forum helps student-athletes chart their career paths. Participants network with and learn from current athletics professionals.

Both Felton and McGlothin learned valuable information, including advocating for themselves, core values, networking, and that everyone’s journey is different.

“It taught me that life is not a race to the finish line, but rather a personal journey, where progress is made small steps at a time,” said McGlothin. “I learned that I should not compare my success and growth to others. Measuring my progress against someone else’s will only lead to dissatisfaction and loss of focus because everyone’s journey is different.”

“I learned that it is not about who you know or who knows you, but it’s about who is going to advocate for you in the room that you are not present in,” said Felton. “You must show up every day representing your brand and your brand is who you are.”

Felton graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and earned a spot on the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll. She was named Bethany’s PAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Salineville, Ohio, native was a member of the women’s volleyball team. She is returning to Bethany to complete her Master of Education in Teaching and Learning and compete in her final year.

McGlothin graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in sports medicine and was a member of the football and track and field teams.

Windmiller promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director at Bethany.

BETHANY, W.Va. – Director of Athletics Brian Sansom is pleased to announce the promotion of Jen Windmiller as the Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) for the Bison.

Windmiller, who will continue to serve on Sansom’s senior staff, will oversee the department’s areas of academics and compliance, as well as specific programs.

“I am beyond thrilled to announce this move that will prove so beneficial for our department and student-athletes, but also because Jen is the perfect person for this role,” says Sansom. “Jen is extraordinarily talented as an administrator and leader. She opens several big-picture exciting opportunities for us that will continue to move our department forward.”

During Windmiller’s time at Bethany, she has improved the professional development of the female staff by securing memberships with Women Leaders in College Sports and partnerships with WeCOACH through the PAC Conference affiliation. She also organized the College’s first DiSC Behavioral Assessment Workshop through the NCAA, which was utilized by Bethany Athletics’ staff and the PHED Coaching Sport course.

In 2021-22, Windmiller nominated nine student-athletes for NCAA programs/scholarships, which led to women’s basketball athlete Kelsie Meintel being named Bethany’s nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year.

During this academic year, Windmiller has nominated 18 student-athletes for NCAA programs/scholarships. Due to Windmiller’s efforts, Samaria Murry was chosen to attend the NCAA DIII Student Immersion Program at the NCAA Convention in January. Dominic Salinetro attended the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, while Joanna Melita is set to attend the NCAA DIII CSC Student Program in June. Seniors Riley Felton and Qujuan McGlothin were also chosen to attend the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in June. Lastly, senior Drew VonScio was named a finalist for the Jim McKay Scholarship.

“I value the investment that AD Brian Sansom and President Jamie Caridi have poured into me the last couple of years,” says Windmiller. “I believe in their vision for the institution as a whole and am thrilled to do my part in progressing our athletic department forward.”

Windmiller earned her Bachelor of Arts in biology/pre-medicine from Augustana College in 2008 and recently received her Master of Education in Teaching and Learning (M.Ed.) from Bethany.
