BVB star Reus: Is a spectacular return on the horizon?

Marco Reus is an integral part of Borussia Dortmund – or is he? His contract with the Black and Yellows expires in the summer.

Dortmund veteran Marco Reus could be on the verge of a spectacular return to his former club Borussia Mönchengladbach . The national player’s contract expires in the summer after twelve years at BVB . According to “Sport Bild”, an extension is unlikely. Reus would then be available for free.

Gladbach is currently looking for experienced offensive players and is relying on more leadership quality for future commitments, it is said. The former Gladbach goalkeeper and 1974 world champion Wolfgang Kleff told “Sport Bild” about a possible return: “If Reus wants to go to Gladbach, that would be extremely attractive. The most important thing is that he is financially viable. With his experience he would be the club “It’s definitely a good thing. Reus is someone who makes the most of his scoring opportunities – and unfortunately we’re lacking when it comes to converting them.”

Success story with Gladbach

A move to Gladbach doesn’t seem impossible. In Dortmund, Reus has now developed into more of a joker and his chances of getting a regular place continue to decline. But the question about salary could be interesting.

And what about another option? Reus could certainly move to an international league, but a move abroad would probably involve a lot of effort for the new father for the second time

The 34-year-old moved from Ahlen to Gladbach for the 2009/2010 season for one million euros. After three years, he scored 41 goals and 28 assists in 109 competitive games before leaving the club for 17.1 million euros and going to Dortmund.
